Costa
Rica is one of the busiest airports in Central America,
with flights flying into 2 international airports:
San Jose (SJO) and Liberia (LIR). Depending on the
structure of your itinerary, it can dictate where
you may best fly into. Normally however, flying
from London or anywhere in Europe you will land
in San Jose, but it is possible to fly into Liberia.
The
advantage of flying into the Northern Guanacaste
region of Costa Rica (Liberia) over flying into
Central Valley (San Jose) is that it is only 30
- 60 minutes away from the Guanacaste beaches of
Tamarindo, Papagayo, Conchal, Flamingo, etc. While
flying into San Jose is great for areas such as
Manuel Antonio, Jaco and Arenal.
The
quickest flight to Costa Rica is via the USA and
most of the major airlines, such as British Airways,
Virgin, US Airways, American Airlines and Continental
will fly via the USA and then down to Costa Rica.
If however you wish to avoid the USA, the best option
is to take the Iberia flight from London to Madrid
and then over to Costa Rica.
Flight
prices from the UK to Costa Rica can vary depending
on what time of season you are flying. Normally,
an average flight from London to San Jose will cost
between £450-600 per person. The cheaper airlines
are usually Continental, American Airlines and Iberia.
Costa Rica Holiday does not currently book flights
for its clients, however we can help you find the
best priced ticket that fits your customised itinerary.
