Day 1: Fly to the San Jose International airport (SJO). As soon as you step off the aircraft you will be met by one of our representatives, where your itinerary will be explained and any questions you have will be answered. The representative will provide you with a pouch that contains vouchers and information about your trip. From the airport you will be privately transported to Hotel Bougainvillea in the mountains surrounding San Jose. Bougainvillea is famous for its beautiful gardens and outstanding service. You can walk around the gardens and enjoy the tropical plants and flowers, you will also see numerous hummingbirds. The Hotel is just 10 minutes from San Jose and 15 minutes from the International Airport so is in a great location for everything.

Day 2: Wake up in your own time and have breakfast. Today is yours to do as you please, you may wish to go into San Jose and explore this great city, do some shopping, or just relax after yesterdays stressful traveling. Stay at Hotel Bougainvillea.

Day 3: After Breakfast you will be privately transported up into the mountains and will see waterfalls and hopefully some toucans on the way. You will climb high into the valleys and after about 2 hours you may be able to see the outline of the Arenal Volcano, one of the worlds most active volcanoes. Once at the volcano area you will check into the Arenal Paraiso.

Day 4: You will wake up great Bungalow to the view of the magnificent 2,600ft Volcano standing in front of you. The volcano is one of the most active in the world as is Central Americas most active, erupting every 48 minutes on average. You will see as smoke plumes jump into the sky and rocks roll down the side of the volcano. At night however you will see the volcano glowing as the lava dances and jumps into the midnight sky. Do not worry it is perfectly safe as you are far enough away not to be harmed.

Today is yours to relax and explore some of the area. Stay at Arenal Paraiso.

Day 5: It is always hard to miss the huge volcano right in front of your window!! Do not worry as today you will taking an even closer look as you do an Observation Hike of the volcano. You will go with a guide who will point animals and plants of interest as you walk over the old lava flow that is about 40 years old. Sometimes if you stand still you can hear the volcano rumbling under your feet!! Finish the guided tour reaching a vantage point over the volcano where you are able to watch the lava flow.

Day 6: Wake up early and have breakfast whilst enjoying the views of the stunning volcano, which has been watching over you for the last couple of days. Today you are going to join a tour and head fro the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. Here you will see a variety of wildlife, with 3 species of monkeys, and hundreds of reptiles and amphibians to keep your eyes pealed for. Stay at Arenal Paraiso.

Day 7: At about 9.00am you will be picked up and transported about 20 minutes to the damn at Lago Arenal (Lake Arenal). Here you will take a 20 minute boat ride across the lake until your reach the Monteverde side of the Lake. This is the quickest way to get from Arenal to Monteverde as the road ride is bumpy and about 3 hours long. The 4x4 and boat transfer however is about 2 hours long. At the other sid of the lake you will take a transfer to your hotel which is situated in the heart of the cloud rainforest in Monteverde, Trapp Family Lodge. You will check into your mountain suite which has a wonderful view of the rainforest and a terrace to relax on.

Day 8 : Relax in the tranquility that is the rainforest in the clouds. You may wish to visit the local cheese factory or take a horse back ride through the mountains. The town of Monteverde also offers some delightful coffee shops and souvenirs shops. It is not too far a walk if you want to walk it, or just hitch a lift with local.

Day 9 : See the rainforest as the monkeys would see it. All throughout the Monteverde Cloud Rainforest are a network of hanging bridges at the top of the rainforest canopy. You will traverse the rainforest with a guide over 1 mile of bridges as you travel like monkeys a the top of the rainforest. You will hopefully see a variety of animals and birds as well as some amusing species of plants and flowers.

Day 10: We hope that now you are ready for sun on the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica. From monteverde you will descend to the coastal areas of Guancaste which are home to some of Costa Rica's most pristine beaches. You will be staying at the Tamarindo Diria hotel. Here you will have great views of the beach, which is perfect for the kids to play on.

Day 11 - 13: Enjoy relaxing and walking on the beach. The area offers some great tours and if you want you can dive and learn the surf. Enjoy the sun, the beach and some of Costa Rica's finest sunsets.

Day 14: You will take a short 20 minute flight to the International airport from Tamarindo and fly home.
