At the foot of Arenal Volcano lies the man made Lake Arenal which is used as a source of power, through hydro-electricity. La Fortuna is a bustling but charming town just 4 miles from Arenal Volcano and connects Arenal Volcano to Lake Arenal and the road to Guanacaste. There are many hotels in La Fortuna to choose from if you wish to be near to lots of restaurants, internet cafes and town centre.

There are some great activities to be tried, such as fishing, a canopy tour, horseback riding, white water rafting, cave explorations or experience the tremendous canyon expedition. This is a magnificent area to visit as the natural hot springs, the most famous of which are Tabacon and Baldi, heated from the volcano, are a great place to relax whilst taking in the stunning scenery.
