Tortuguero

Located
on the north-eastern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica lies
the Tortuguero National Park. Within this park is one
of the largest protected areas of tropical rainforest
in Central America, making this a very important place
in Costa Rica. Underneath the canopy of this stunning
rainforest, many species of animal live in harmony with
each other. On tours, animals that you are likely to see
include spider, howler an white-faced monkeys, three-toed
sloth's, caiman, poison dart frogs, iguanas and many more,
including over 320 species of birds. In the jungle canals
and inland waterways you may see river otters and river
turtles. The best and most rewarding way to see all of
these wonderful creatures has to be on an organized boat
tour along the canals.

Tortuguero
is known for its large population of nesting sea turtles
that return year after year to the area. A very small
amount of people live here as it is mainly made up by
small beaches, mangrove swamps and coastal forests.
Tortuguero
is located on the north east Caribbean cost, which is
approximately 30 mins by plane from San Jose, or if you
want to see some of the country on the way, it is between
5 and 6 hours by car, bus or boat.
