Your very own private cottage
by the volcano!!
La Mansion Arenal is not at all what was
expected. Arenal is well known for its rustic and standard
hotels however on arrival at La mansion Arenal it is evident
that this hotel has taken the standard out of Arenal and
replaced it with boutique luxury. The gardens are beautifully
manicured and you can see the many gardner's working throughout
the day trying to keep this tropical gardens very tropical
and clean. As you walk into the main reception area you
can not miss the bar in the shape of the front of a boat
with a very European style to it. Then if you look closer
you will see that the bottles behind the bar are extra
strength Belgian beers. It has been said that a night
at the Mansion Arenal's bar will never be remembered and
with 8-9% strength beer it is easy to see why!!
Once Joey the friendliest Manager I
have ever met checked us in in became apparent that you
had your own private cottage with spectacular lake views
and tropical gardens all to your own. The rooms are decorated
in a very eclectic fashion however the rooms are cosy
and very well maintained. The cottages are about 150m
sq and have ceramic tiled floors with high beam wooden
ceilings. From lying ion your bed you can see the lake
and gardens, however this is best appreciated from the
private terrace you have. The bathrooms are a good size
and have recently been reconstructed to give guests more
space. There is also a little Kitchenette area and fridge
if you need. The hotel itself is not located next to the
volcano or the town of Arenal but is about 30-35 minutes
further around the lake towards Monteverde, making it
a great location for exploring the whole area.
The food at the hotel was fantastic
and if any of the guests have been fishing that day you
are sure to have rainbow bass on the menu or any other
fish pulled from the lake!! The food is very filling but
not heavy and the deserts are to die for, you must dry
the ice cream!! Of all the hotels in Arenal we have visited
this must be the finest hotel with great service and food.
It comes very highly recommended.
