It feels like stepping back
in Costa Rican time!!
Grano de Oro has been part of a small exclusive
group of hotels in Costa Rica for over 5 years now and
boasts a quiet setting within the busy city of San Jose.
This hotel is rated one of the best in the San Jose area
and it is easy to see why. The place has a historic feel
of old San Jose which is not found in any other hotel
in San Jose. It is very weird when you first step into
the lobby and restaurant area as you feel like you are
stepping back in time to Victorian Colonial San Jose,
which we all know never happened in Costa Rica as it was
a Spanish Colony. As you can see from the Decor of the
rooms it is very elegant, boasting tropical gardens and
a hardwood elements.
Costa Rica Holiday had the opportunity
to stay at the hotel for one night. The staff at the hotel
are very friendly indeed as well as being efficiently
attentive. You are welcomed with a typical 'Pura Vida'
smile and are taken to your room which normally has a
beautiful tropical gardens with a variety of heliconias
and other Costa Rican plants. The rooms are very spacious
and airy and it feels more like a family guest house than
a hotel as each room is uniquely decorated. After you
have checked in you can venture around the city center
of San Jose (2 minutes) or relax on the sun deck at the
top of the hotel.
The best part of this hotel however
is around the restaurant area and the food that they serve.
The Chef is a French Chef who has lived in Costa Rica
for some years. The style of food is a cross between Costa
Rican and French styles with a wide variety of salads,
soups, fish and meats on offer. If however you do not
find what you want then let them know and I am sure they
will do their best to please!!!
While at this hotel you will continually
feel like you are a friend of the family and not just
a room number. The waiters are happy to help you with
your Spanish or give advice on Costa Rica and its areas.
You will be surprised at every corner in this hotel!!!
If you are planning to stay in San Jose for your first
or last couple of night this is a must hotel top stay
at!!
