First Chinese Trade Expo to Open Next Week

Just a few short weeks after cutting diplomatic relations with Taiwan and begging relations with China, Chinese business' are set to host a trade show here in Costa Rica to promote their business' and their products to the Costa Rican public.

The people responsible for the expo say that this has been in the pipeline for a long time, even since before diplomatic recognition was switched from Taiwan to China, and that it is a great way to further improve relations between the two nations.

The expo is also a chance for the first diplomatic delegation from China to visit Costa Rica. They will be attending the opening night of the trade fair, after this week announcing that the Chinese will be providing Costa Rica's municipalities with $50 Million.

The trade fair is due to take place on the 22nd - 25th of August in the International Conference Center at Hotel Herradura, northwest of San Jose. The 2,400 square meter conference room will be filled with booths from 30 chinese companies, representing a diverse range of businesses from Clothing manufacturers to artificial christmas trees!

Mothers Day in Costa Rica

This coming Monday 20th August sees yet another national holiday here in Costa Rica, this time to celebrate Mothers day. However, Mothers day was actually this week on Wednesday 15th, yet the Monday was chosen as the day off. This may seem odd to many people outside of Costa Rica, where Mothers day is traditionally held on a Sunday, not a specific date as it is here in Costa Rica.

Costa Rican's are well known for their national holidays with something around 15 a year, compared to just 5 or 6 in the UK, they really don't need much of an excuse to down tools and head for the bars for a drink. Unfortunately here at Costa Rica Holiday we do not have the luxury of a day off as Monday is typically one of our busiest days of the week.
