Club del Mar - Family Fun in the Sun

Clube del Mar, Pool and Casitas

Last weekend I encountered my first trip to Jaco staying at the Club del Mar Hotel on the beach front. It’s only a couple hours from San Jose and another couple hours or so away from other popular destinations such as Manuel Antonio and Puntarenas.

The first thing I noticed upon arrival was the extremely friendly and helpful staff who went over everything available to me about my stay and who were more than happy to help out with any queries I had. The Casita’s are large and spacious with all your basic living amenities plus some extras such as a smoothie maker!

There is more than enough to be occupied with in and about the hotel. There is a decent sized swimming pool with volleyball net as well as a shallow area which is perfect for families with young children. There is plenty of time to relax as you can enjoy yourself in the spa getting a massage from one of the experienced masseurs, or simply just lounge about at the pool or on the beach.

If staying at the hotel is not your thing, then venture out on some tours that can be pre-booked before your arrival, or booked when you’re at the hotel. There is a large variety to choose from including ATV tours (quad bike tours) and canopy tours. You can also venture into Jaco where you can do a spot of shopping in the local shops selling a variety of locally made crafts, take a horseback ride along the beach or even spend the day a little further down the coast on the white beach sands of Manuel Antonio.

The restaurant’s cuisine is a fine mix of international and Costa Rican flavours, cooked perfectly and promptly to your acquired tastes. The friendly staff provide fantastic catering for your every needs, and if there was one thing I would recommend, it would have to be the freshly made cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic – superb.
