My Costa Rica Holiday with my Family

We first decided that we would look for a different kind of holiday for our family in 2006 as it appeared that most destinations offered by Agencies were too commercial. We want to give the kids a more natural and Eco-friendly experience, because we were sure that by the time they grew up their children would have nothing to see with the current rate of pollution and destruction.

On researching Eco-holidays we constantly kept seeing Costa Rica. So we thought we would do some research and contact an agency. However we wanted an agency that was in Costa Rica because we felt that they would have a better understanding of the product and also what we wanted. We came across Costa Rica Holiday UK, a Travel Agency based in Costa Rica however with all the conveniences of an Agency as if it was at home.

We set about enquiring and discussing things further with a consultant named James Dyde. He was very knowledgeable and put together a magnificent package for us. We were going to go to Tortuguero to see the Turtles, then Arenal to see the Volcano, then over to the Monteverde Cloud Rainforest and finally to Manuel Antonio for beach. We also understood that Manuel Antonio was a great location for wildlife and Dolphins.

We were very nervous about wiring money across to Costa Rica however we noticed that they were a member of Canatur which is the Camber of Tourism in Costa Rica. Also James provided us with very good references. We also called the hotels just to make sure, however everything worked out perfect as we expected.

Before we arrived we received our final itinerary which detailed pick up and drop off times as well as details on the airport meeting. It was nice after flying all that way to be met by someone and kind of VIP 'd through. We arrived at night and went straight to the hotel which was very comfortable, however just all fell asleep. Then we continued the next morning to Tortuguero which was a fabulous area and seeing the turtles was exceptional, the kids loved it!! Arenal was great, we had 2 clear nights and seeing the lava flow was outstanding and a must see, I think it erupted a couple of times as well! The Monteverde Cloud rainforest was OK however the Canopy Tour was most enjoyed by the kids, they enjoyed playing Tarzan and Jane. Our final week was in Manuel Antonio at Hotel La Mariposa in 2 Suites. I was a bit dubious as I had read reviews that were not all good, however it turned out perfect. James said it had a good view and it did!!

Our family holiday to Costa Rica went without a hitch and I would highly recommend Costa Rica Holiday to anyone. Just to let you know their name in Costa Rica is Costa Rica Vacations, Costa Rica Holiday is their UK name!!
