Arenal's most famous hotel!!
What do you get if you cross under ground
springs near a volcano with 5 star service?? Of course
the answer is the Arenal Tabacon Hot Springs Resort and
Hotel. As part of the tough job that we have here at Holidays
to Costa Rica we have to visit our partner hotels
so that #1 we now the properties for the benefit of our
clients and #2 to make sure they are offering the standards
that we expect. You will be happy to hear that for the
6th year running they have passed both tests!!
It was slightly odd to hear the story
of the rise of the Tabacon Hotel from its beginnings to
what it is now. It first started as a tour for people
wanting to see spectacular gardens in the volcanic area
of Arenal. Then the world famous Hot Springs were introduced
next. However for years the area was just a gardens and
hot springs tour until after much pestering the hotels
was made. Many people kept asking why they would have
these lovely gardens and hot springs and not have anywhere
to stay. Well to cut a long story short the hotel was
built and was recently remodeled and given 5 start status
by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism in 2006.
The Hot Springs are by far the main
attraction and as a guest you have free access to these
and transport to and from the hotel (it is only 400m).
The rooms have all been recently refurbished and come
with all the 5 star amenities you would expect. The bathrooms
are very large with a bathtub and shower as well as a
large mirror and hairdryers.
The service at the hotel is very high,
as you would expect of a 5 star hotel and the staff are
friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The only negative
however was the price of food and drink as it was highly
overpriced and $35USD for breakfast was rather high!!!
Other hotels you may like is La
Mansion Arenal, Lost
Iguana or Arenal
Kioro.
