Jewels Valued at £30,000 Stolen From Store in San Jose, Costa Rica

About £30,000 (approximately $61,000) worth of jewels were hijacked yesterday from a jewelry store in downtown San Jose after 3 people who pretended to be customers interested in purchasing the jewels, made off having stolen them.
The owner of the jewelry store Joyeria Leonardo Da Vinci, German Benavides, was approached just after 2pm yesterday by 3 people who claimed that they were interested in purchasing some jewelry. Benavides asked them what they wanted from which they gave a design idea that they had in mind.
When Benavides presented stones to create the various items of jewelry asked by the 3 people, guns were pulled out on the store clerks and other customers inside the store. There were 6 people inside the store at the time, and all were tied up by the thieves.
The operation was a quick one, and clearly had been planned out before entering the store as within 15 minutes of tying the people in the store up, they had managed to collect a large amount of the jewels in the shop made of gold and a variety of precious stones, before fleeing.
The people inside the store remained unhurt as one customer managed to break free and untie everyone else in the store before alerting the authorities.
