Oscar Arias, President of Costa Rica, Hacked
Posted by richardb under: Economy & Politics .
Oscar awoke yesterday to a big flag of Nicaragua on the Presidential House Website after hackers hacked the ‘low cost’ software that was running the website. Currently the website is down until it can be assured that hackers can no longer access the website and change its content.
The website was developed by INA, INA is an education system for people who could not pass high school and learn a trade. The website was said to have a low cost software running it but also the security measures for government website were no existent.
Luis Gorgon. of the Presidential Information Technology, stated that the Presidential House took the cheap road this time and it back fired. He referred to an agreement with the National Training Institute (INA) to develop the website, “so as not to incur higher costs,” reaffirmed Pablo Guero, adviser to the Ministry of the Presidency. Gorgon said there is now a team of specialists working on developing a system which does not involve major economic costs, and establishes better security.
So far the suspicion has fallen on Nicaraguan hackers however there is limited evidence to substantiate this. The website that is currently down is http://www.casapres.go.cr/
