Well when in Costa Rica treat the country and people with respect as you do in your own country. the countries are very similar with regard to cultural things and apart from being very passive on the roads there is nothing too much.
Women however should not be surprised if men whistle at them as this is normal macho behavior in Costa Rica.
Is it true that i can bribe the police?
There have in the past been instances of this in the past however if you do get stopped by the police do not offer a bribe as you could find yourself in a fine Costa Rican carcel (jail). take the ticket and make sure you pay for it before you leave the country as re-entry in the future could be rather difficult.
