Description – The Rafiki Safari Lodge is a small part of South Africa in Costa Rica. This is probably one of the most unique lodgings in Costa Rica, who ever thought that ‘camping’ and ‘luxurious’ would ever be in the same sentence. Well at Rafiki they have done this and more. The camp is hidden within 750 acres of primary rainforest and offers its guests a natural Costa Rican stay.

The River Savegre, one of Costa Rica’s most famous rivers runs through the property which allows for great white water rafting. The Luxury tents were imported from South Africa and sit on hard wood decks with canvas windows so that nature may be heard from within but cannot enter.

The main lodge at the hotel is situated on a plateau and affords wonderful views especially whist eating dinner. There is a bar and a restaurant offering international cuisine. There are many activities to do in the area as well as miles and miles of trails for jungle hiking. If you like white water rafting this is the place. Kayaking is also on offer as well as horseback riding, ‘Leker Safari’, bird watching, and not forgetting the hotel’s famous pool and slide!!

‘This is my kind of camping!! I was apprehensive about the tents but they are very clean and have hot running showers, the bathroom is rather nice. The food at the restaurant was excellent and they served up a welcoming meal every time. The tours in the area are great and I suggest booking them as there really isn’t much around apart from the hotel!!’
