Jaco is a laidback bustling town and a very popular, clean beach with friendly people. It has something of a reputation as a party beach with many young people, backpackers and vacation package visitors hitting the area during dry season.

The perfect place for the younger tourists of Costa Rica, this is also the first beach along the coast, from Guanacaste, that you will find with a tropical feel. As well as these party seekers you will also find surfers who flock here to hit the waves with high enthusiasm, providing a combination of people that gives the area a laid back atmosphere. The waves are constantly big for surfing with big breaks. An annual international surf contest is held nearby in Playa Hermosa attracting surfers from over the globe.

Jaco’s location in relation to San Jose is a very central location, along with its superb nightlife, makes Jaco a great addition to almost any itinerary. Areas to the north and south of Jaco are very picturesque and clean with stunning panoramic ocean views if you decide to venture out.

There are all types of accommodation and restaurants in Jaco with lots of activities from horseback rides on the beach to off shore fishing and sea kayaking. Other great activities that can be tried in this Beach town include surfing, fishing, gambling, fine dining, parasailing and of course sunbathing on the beautiful tropical beach. There are also many unique shops and galleries that will give you a break from the non stop partying that is to be had in this location.
