Playa Tambor is situated in the Nicoya Peninsula roughly 4-5 hours from San Jose and 3 hours from Liberia, however easily and best accessible by air. It has long been known for isolated, unbelievably beautiful beaches. The beaches in the Tambor area are of black volcanic sand and the sea is a bit calmer and better for swimming in these areas, however most of the beaches to the north and south are white sand. Surrounded by the natural beauty of rainforests and mountains this area is a great place to relax and enjoy Costa Rica.

In Tambor there is an 18 hole golf course that is one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica. Not far away are the small villages of Montezuma and Mal País that have blossomed in recent years. You can surf on the mind-blowing waves or just relax on the peaceful beaches. Surrounding Playa Tambor you can find many little villages such as these with incredible beaches.

The temperature of the Nicoya Peninsula is very much like that of Guanacaste however during the Green Season it does see some more rain, hence the lush green of the area. The amazing thing about the Nicoya Peninsula is that not many tourists visit this area due to its unease to drive to, but once you are there it is true paradise.
